Will have to check out his stuff

On a side note, you know there are LOADS of big name guys who still play that kind of disco? Its probably more concentrated in Europe, but Horse Meat Disco, Daniel Wang, DJ Harvey, Todd Terje, Prins Thomas, Mark Seven all play a lot of records that would have been big in said clubs.

You should definitely check out Mark Seven from the above. He did a great mix which was recorded at Horse Meat Disco in London called 'Salute To The Men Of Vauxhall' (a play of the Salute To The Men Of San Francisco tapes from Bobby). It would be right up your street and has excellent mixing

Yes I would enjoy going to Horse Meat Disco. I may get over to the UK this year and that will be on the list. Jimmy mixes with Michael Fierman and John Ceglia and the boys have taken a fondness to him and after listening I see why. He recently visit Bobby Viteritti and even knows and hangs out with Terry Sherman. There is hope with young DJs like you and Jimmy coming on the scene. OMG and THANK GOD. I will give Mark Seven a try too. Thanks !

Re: DJ Jimmy DePre Fantastic !

        Fantastic New Talent.
Jimmy DePre is a Philadelphia disc-jockey, radio personality and singer. His innate passion for music has led him to a fulfilling career through many different mediums, featuring a wide variety of musical genres. Jimmy’s keen sense of rhythm and extensive knowledge of the music from the first generation of rock and roll landed him a job with legendary radio personality Jerry Blavat at the age of 15. For the next six years he worked alongside Blavat at the best casinos, bars, nightclubs and venues in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware area, as well premier events in Florida and California.

In 2006 Jimmy put his love for radio as a means of preserving the music he loves to the test with a two-hour internet-only program. Over the past six years his show, The Rock & Roll Jamboree, has grown from internet-only to AM radio, and in 2009 graduated onto FM radio. Cruisin’ 92.1 FM in Vineland, New Jersey proudly carries The Rock & Roll Jamboree every Thursday evening from 10pm until midnight.

While spinning records behind Jerry Blavat, Jimmy learned the art of mixing and began to hone the skills which have made him a well respected disc-jockey in the dance community. Upon parting ways with Blavat in 2008, Jimmy took to the nightclubs of Philadelphia, Atlantic City, New Hope, and beyond to make his second passion, dance music, his work. With his love for disco and the path it has paved to the house music of today, Jimmy has successfully been able to connect to his audience through the freshest dance music currently available while incorporating beloved classics to create a consistently unique dance experience. He currently holds the Friday and Saturday residency at Tavern On Camac in Center City Philadelphia, and is the man behind the music for some of the biggest annual events held in the city.

When he’s not playing music for his audience, Jimmy uses his voice to front the acapella group Junior & The Four Seniors. Their street corner harmony has taken them all over the tri-state area and this past year to the prestigious Lead East Festival in North Jersey. In December of 2010 they released their full-length album entitled “Fine Wine, Cheesesteaks & Harmony.” Jimmy also sings first and second tenor behind the voice of Joe Cleary in The Balladeers. He is currently works as a solo act as well with pianist Bob Eagan and plays cabarets in Asbury Park & Atlantic City.

Mark is old enough AFAIK (I think early forties). He runs a record store in Sweden called Jus Wax, though he is English http://juswax.com/

Theres always been a good concentration of disco nerds over this way who have kept it alive, and the ones I mentioned range from the age of 49 (Harvey) to 30 (Todd Terje). In addition there are tons more, who would play quality underground disco records, less influenced by the white gay clubs.

Its sad how shit some of the states has become with the likes of David Guetta being considered dance music, but theres no shortage of people keeping the fire burning and the internet makes things now a global scene rather than local

Salute To The Men Of Vauxhall mixes are on here:
record, sounds, share, sound, audio, tracks, music, soundcloud

You should totally visit Horse Meat Disco if over this way, its small in comparison to New York clubs of old (Similar in size to what Id imagine the Cockring was like) but so so much fun. It only goes til 3-4am, but Ive been there when they have played sleaze for the last hour or so, which I have never heard before outside of old recordings. The guys have something really special going on there.

2 of them (James & Jim) are playing Cielo tomorrow night. You should go if you can. I think Terry is going with Jimmy
