Not that we know of. Barry was part of the Duo of Graebar Sound. His partner Peter Spar was the technical brains behind the operation. They installed the sounds systems at Saint, 12 West, Trocadero Transfer and Probe. They competed with the man himself "Richard Long" of RLA.

He is probably most known for taking over Tom Moulton's "Disco Mix" Billboard column. He was not really a DJ, or at least not a very good one.

There is a famous picture of him and a group of first generation DJs Here it is and its very well know. There is a funny story about it too.

Lary Sander, told me that many of these DJs were mad that Barry muscled his way into this picture because they say he was not a real DJ. They say Barry had "other skills" regarding party favors that he was much better know for and Bobby V has confirmed this. Bobby has a fantastic story about an EQ he bought from Radio Shack at the Troc that he may share involving Barry that made me almost pee my pants laughing about. perhaps he will share it.

Here is another famous picture of some legends

    ABOUT THE ABOVE 1976 PICTURE

TOP ROW: 3RD IN TONY MARTINO, 12 WEST DJ JIM BURGESS, ALLAN HARRIS OWNER 12 WEST, DJ ROY THODE
BOTTOM: BARRY LEDERER, VINCE ALETTI,RECORD WORLD, DJ LANCE WISE

Some great Pictures at Barry's apartment are Here and if you look I took a picture of the famous First Generation DJ photo above which Barry had hanging in the entrance hallway in his apartment.

No matter what you think of him, he was a legend in the Disco Era and its ashamed that we have lost another one. Their number is declining and each loss is painful.

The news has profoundly disturbed me. Knowing Barry, he's most not likely resting in peace but dancing in heaven.

    May he Rest in Peace

    Just Posted on Disco-disco.com:

    Barry Lederer

    R.I.P.

It's with great sadness I'm reached by the information that my friend Barry has passed away in his Manhattan apartement in April of 2008.
Barry was just around 60 years old and he had lots of plans and so much more to give.

We started out e-mailing before we started speaking over the phone ever so often and he shared so many of his memories with me. He was always exciting and had lots to tell, and he knew just about everyone worth knowing in the world of Disco.

I even visited Barry in his apartment the last time I was in New York. I will really miss our chat's...

Thank you Barry and I hope you turn Heaven into a huge Discotheque!
